Volunteer!
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Volunteer Opportunities
Reach Out and Read (ROR)
Through our pediatric literacy program, community volunteers of all ages read stories to children in our pediatric, family practice, and behavioral health waiting rooms. Parents witness the pleasures and techniques of reading aloud and children are opened up to the world inside books. Learn more about volunteering for ROR or donating your gently used children’s books.
Volunteer individually or together with a friend. Reading to children in our waiting rooms is a fun way to earn your community service hours or give back to the community at large. After school, area high school students shelve books and read to our youngest visitors. During the summer other opportunities exist as well. You may volunteer solo or as a member of your school’s Interact Club, Jefferson Forum, National Honor Society, or other service organization. For further information.

Teens
Area students in programs that require completion of successful internships to complement their training have practiced their newly learned skills at all three of our sites. Successful internships at LCHC have included 120 hour, six month, 10 week, and summer internships in various departments to gain expertise in:
- billing/enrollment
- front desk reception
- medical interpreter
- medical administrative assistant
Please contact the volunteer office for further information. (All clinical internships are created solely through your schools. Please contact your supervisor for those internships.)
