LCHC Families enjoy Baby's First Christmas

In spite of bitter cold weather, more than 60 families with newborns came to St. Joseph’s Parish Hall to celebrate Lynn Community Health Center’s 17th annual Baby’s First Christmas Party.  Since 1996, the Health Center has been hosting this event, where families celebrate the holiday season by dining together with LCHC staff, enjoying music and crafts, and every new Mom receives gifts for her children.  In recent years, thanks to a generous donor, each family has also been given a $10 gift certificate to Shaw’s Market.

LCHC Celebrates Baby Cafe Grand Opening

Lynn Community Health Center celebrated the official Grand Opening of The Baby Café on November 19. 

The Baby Café, a collaboration between the health center, the Early Intervention Partnership Program, North Shore Medical Center, WIC, and Mass in Motion, offers free breastfeeding support and assistance from professionals and other moms—all in a relaxed atmosphere.  Located in the lower level of the health center’s 269 Union Street location, it is open to everyone every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. – noon.  All pregnant or breastfeeding women...

On November 7, 2013, Lynn Community Health Center honored Dr. Timothy Johnson, Emmy-Award winning medical journalist, for his many years communicating health and medical issues in everyday terms; and WCVB-TV for its commitment to making his work accessible to the general public. Health Center receives grant to help Lynn residents apply for insurance

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation has awarded Lynn Community Health Center $40,000 to provide outreach to low-income residents who need help enrolling in health insurance through its “Connecting Consumers with Care” grant program.

“Blue Cross has been a strong partner in our outreach efforts for many years,” said Lori Abrams Berry, health center Executive Director.  “Signing up for health insurance is very complex, requiring lots of paperwork.  Most of our patients need guidance through this process.”

Health Center Celebrates 42nd Annual Meeting

The Lynn Community Health Center celebrated its 4nd Annual Meeting on Monday, October 23.  Over 200 staff, board, and community members attended an evening that truly exhibited the commitment and dedication of its staff and board.

The Department of Public Health presented Lynn Community Health Center with the  Commissioner’s Leadership Award at the 2013 Ounce of Prevention Conference on October 22.  The health center was recognized for our Integrated Care Project, a unique, fully integrated behavioral and medical health care team model that involves: co-location of behavioral health and primary care services and co-management of patients. USDA Deputy Undersecretary visits LCHC Baby Café

Dr. Janey Thornton, USDA Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, visited Lynn Community Health Center’s Baby Café on Tuesday as part of a multi-stop visit to the Boston Area to promote breastfeeding during National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.  Twelve moms were on hand to talk to her about their experiences.
