Andrea was the health center’s Chief Nursing Officer. She was a dear friend, a close colleague, and a valued mentor. In many ways, she has been the heart and soul of the Lynn Community Health Center since she joined us in 1997. More than any other person on our staff (and we are blessed with incredible talent at all levels) Andrea was responsible for our dramatic growth and success as a health center, as well as our importance to the Lynn community.
Our hearts go out to Andrea’s family, especially her husband Wayne, her children Craig and Mara, and their families.
REMEMBERING ANDREA AT LYNN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER
Many have asked how we plan to publicly remember Andrea at Lynn Community Health Center, and how they can participate. After conversations with her husband Wayne and LCHC Staff, we have decided to do this in two ways.
The first will be to establish the Andrea Gaulzetti Memorial Fund for those who would like to make a gift in her memory. These contributions will support the build out of the third floor of our new building, which will include a space that bears her name. During Andrea’s 17 years here, the health center experienced exponential growth in both the number of patients we serve and the services we offer them. Her vision and leadership set us on a trajectory that continues to this day, and as we plan for continued growth it seems fitting that we acknowledge her legacy in our next new space.
If you wish to make a contribution to the Andrea Gaulzetti Memorial Fund you can send it to Lynn Community Health Center, Attn Clare Hayes or donate online. You can put Andrea’s name in the box that designates a gift in honor or memory of someone.
Secondly we will establish the Andrea Gaulzetti Excellence in Community Health Award. This award will be given to a member of the Lynn Community Health Center Staff at our Annual Meeting. Teresa Ammirati, RN, who received the “Andrea Gaulzetti Excellence in Nursing Award” in 2013 will be listed as our first awardee. Since Andrea’s generosity of spirit, fierce advocacy for staff, and dedication to employee mentoring cut across all disciplines, any employee will now be eligible to receive the award.
Those of us who knew Andrea will never forget her. We hope that these two efforts will ensure that all health center staff, patients, and visitors will, for many years to come, have the opportunity to know about this amazing woman who embodied the heart and soul of Lynn Community Health Center.
