Lynn Community Health Center welcomes Emergency Medicine Physician Dr. Emily Doelger to our medical staff. Dr. Doelger will serve as the health center’s Urgent Care Director.
Dr. Doelger received her MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, and completed her residency at McGraw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. She has also recently completed a teaching fellowship in Sydney, Australia with the Health Workforce Australia (HWA) Simulated Learning Environments program, training medical professionals in emergency medicine.
Dr. Doelger’s interest in medicine began when, after undergraduate school, she joined the teaching staff of the Wanghetti Aboriginal Boarding School in Sydney, Australia. “I never thought about nursing, but the school nurse was suddenly called away for a week. She handed me a book, and said ‘good luck!’” she recalls. “I loved the patient care. I had never thought about nursing, but I came back to the States and went to Georgetown for my nursing degree.” Dr. Doelger spent several years as a Pediatric ICU Nurse, then went on to medical school where she specialized in Emergency Medicine.
She will be working one day a week in the North Shore Medical Center Emergency Department in addition to her job at Lynn Community Health Center. “I am so impressed with the commitment that North Shore Medical Center and the Health Center have made to working together preventing unnecessary ER visits. I look forward to participating in this effort.”
