The Campaign for America’s Health Center’s is asking you to take action!
Congress is making decisions on federal spending that could mean real cuts in funding for health centers that would impact their ability to to serve our patients. For information on how you can contact members of congress and urge them to stop The Sequester (“accross the board cuts”) and protect health center and the patients they serve please visit http://www.saveourchcs.org/.
Dr. Rachelle Darout, a new family physician at Lynn Community Health Center, joined the health center medical staff last fall after she completed her Doctor of Family Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and her residency at the Montefiore Medical Center, in New York.
In February the Swampscott Public Library will once again collect new or barely used children’s books for a local “Reach Out and Read” Program. These books are donated to the Lynn Community Health Center. To make a donation, please bring your children’s books into the library and deposit them in the brightly colored box in the lobby.
February is recognized as Black History Month and has been celebrated since 1926. It first began because an accomplished African American historian, Dr. Carter G. Woodson, wanted to bring to light the omission of accomplishments by blacks in history books. He chose February because it coincided with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. In 2013 LCHC celebrated in several ways:
Dr. Catherine Latham and several staff from LCHC’s School Based Health Centers attended at State House Briefing on School Based Health Care, sponsored by the MA Association for School Based Health Care. Dr. Latham spoke about the importance of Lynn’s 7 SBHC’s during her speech.
Lynn Community Health Center welcomes Emergency Medicine Physician Dr. Emily Doelger to our medical staff. Dr. Doelger will serve as the health center’s Urgent Care Director.
3 LCHC providers were recognized for community service during Lynn’s MLK Day celebration on January 21, 2013.
