Joyce Kulhawik, Emmy-Award winning entertainment critic and cancer crusader, and the Pink Angels, a local non-profit dedicated to the prevention and cure of breast cancer, were honored by the Lynn Community Health Center at its second annual Women for LCHC Recognition Breakfast. Over 200 guests were on hand at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem to recognize the women for their advocacy for cancer prevention, education and support.

Joyce Kulhawik, best known as the Emmy Award-Winning Arts and Entertainment Critic for CBS Boston (WBZ-TV 1981-2008), will be honored by Lynn Community Health Center at the “Women for Lynn Community Health Center Recognition Breakfast” on May 16th at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem. The Pink Angels, a local non profit dedicated to the prevention and cure of breast cancer, will also be recognized for their dedication to the prevention and cure of breast cancer.

Nineteen young people from Lynn were among more than 200 from across Massachusetts who recently converged on the State House to recognize the contributions of teenagers in the fight against tobacco use. Ten of the Lynn participants were from Girls Inc. and the other nine from KAYA, a youth program jointly run by the Lynn Community Health Center and the Lynn YMCA.

Unresolved differences in Congress over the federal debt ceiling in 2011 set the stage for the cuts, known as sequestration, to begin this Friday, March 1. The cost-cutting measure would lop $85 billion from the $3.6 trillion federal budget over the next seven months.
