APRN will provide direct clinical service to patients, provide clinical supervision to interns and staff, be involved in quality improvement activities, other administrative activities, and help to develop programming as needed.With respect to clinical duties, core duties will include: psychiatric evaluations, consultation, and treatment of referred patients; prescribing medications and follow-up medication visits; provision of psychotherapy as needed; participation in mental health intake conferences and case presentations; consultation and evaluation of patients in regards to crisis situations and admission to a psychiatric mental health and/or substance abuse inpatient unit. Treatment services provided will be based on credentialing privileges, related to areas of expertise, and follow accepted guidelines and best practices. Services will be coordinated with other providers involved in the patient’s care including LCHC providers, the PCP, and providers from outside agencies. APRNs will take a team-oriented approach to patient care and fully participate in integrating behavioral health care with primary care.Direct services may be provided at various locations including but not limited to: 20 Central, 269 Union, Western Ave., 280 Union, school based health centers, and at other community sites/agencies. Primary service location will vary based on responsibilities and can be changed based on clinic needs. All clinical work and documentation will meet accepted standards of practice including those set by LCHC policy, JACHO, NCQA, state and professional associations, and contracted insurance companies. Productivity target will be determined on a yearly basis and may need to be adjusted based on a variety of factors including specific duties and health care economics.
With respect to other duties, APRNs will be expected to assist with supervising interns as appropriate depending on the practitioner’s experience level , and may present at trainings. APRNs will participate in ongoing quality improvement efforts as assigned by supervisors (Chief Behavioral Health Officer or Chief Medical Officer). They will also be involved in program development and community consultation. This may include serving as a health consultant for the Lynn Public Schools, local day care centers, after school program, day camps or other community related organizations; providing such services as programmatic consultation, preparation/review of health related policies and documentation or participating in health screenings, health education programs or counseling at health fairs and other similar community events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide comprehensive bio-psycho-social diagnostic assessment at intake and at any point needed throughout treatment.
- Provide evidence-based psychopharmacological treatments.
- Follow clinical guidelines with respect to prescribing practices.
- Follow clinic guidelines and protocols with respect to prescribing controlled substances.
- Monitor and assess for medication side effects, adverse drug events, and drug interactions
- Consult with and coordinate care with PCP.
- If providing psychotherapeutic treatments, be well-versed in at least two treatment modalities.
- If acting as primary therapist, provide case management services.
- Provide ongoing treatment planning.
- Provide crisis intervention and management services.
- Use a team-oriented approach with special emphasis on communication and coordination of care.
- May administer injectable medications for psychiatric indications
Supervisory/Clinical Leader Functions
- Form working relationship with supervisee that clarifies expectations and boundaries.
- Work with supervisee to assess strengths, weaknesses, and areas for clinical growth.
- Encourage two- way communications; periodically assess ability to meet supervisee’s needs.
- Review cases with supervisee for appropriateness of treatment plan, medication prescribed, and assessment of ongoing progress.
- Evaluate supervisee’s ability to perform duties and associated core competencies.

- The Behavioral Healthcare Services Coordinator of Psychiatric Nurses will conduct weekly supervision with all psychiatric nurses.
- Weekly supervision by the Supervising Psychiatrist who is psychiatrist of record.
- Provide weekly peer supervision with other professional staff of the Psychiatric Nursing Services.
- Graduate Degree in nursing
- Licensure to practice psychiatric nursing in Massachusetts.
- Certified as a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist or psychiatric nurse practitioner in Massachusetts (PMHNP or PMHCNS)
- “X” license (DATA waiver) to prescribe buprenorphine strongly preferred
- History of good attendance and positive work attitude.
APRN will have previous experience in diagnosing, evaluating and treating patients with psychiatric disorders. In particular, APRN will have previous experience in treating psychiatric illness with medication in addition to being comfortable with psychotherapeutic modalities. APRN will have demonstrated sensitivity working with underserved multicultural populations in a community setting
- The essential job duties of this position present risk of exposure to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens. Annual attendance at LCHC Bloodborne pathogen training is required.
- Up to date immunizations and annual TB testing is required.
- Hepatitis B vaccine and annual flu immunization are strongly recommended and available at no charge at the Health Center. Declination form must be signed if Hepatitis B vaccine is declined.
- Results of inquiry to Criminal Offender Record Investigation (CORI) must be acceptable under health center standards.
